GSMDM "For the Love of a Child" event

Councilman Paul Davis spoke at the "For the Love of a Child" fundraiser dinner last night, welcoming the 120 quests who spent the evening being entertained with a traditional dragon dance.

Dat Nguyen was part of the entertainment. The classical guitarist amazed and impressed the guests not simply because he is talented but due to being a Vietnam refugee who has been blind since birth.

Jeff Helton of Flashback67 Productions too the stage to introduce his teaser trailer of the film Don't Give Up the movie to guests. Not a dry eye in the house and several gasps from the crowd and smiles as last summer's volunteer mission crew caught glimpses of themselves within the footage.  Helton promises that there is at least 90 minutes of moving footage but needs support to bring this project to its full completion.

Dr. Hardesty followed up, after viewing the thirteen minute long preview, with an emotional plea of encouragement to the supporters of GSMDM to help fund this film; the goal to bring the full ninety minutes to the screen and the huge impact that it could bring to their mission and ministry.  He followed his comments up with his pledge for $1000 contribution, asking those who can to match his contribution.

The evening was a success with a large crowd, requiring tables be added as more and more guests filled the room, reunions of volunteers whom haven't seen each other since July's trip to Vietnam, and warm feelings.

Dr. Vien Doan also reminded the supporters that there are three children awaiting heart surgeries and that it is imperative to spread the word about the mission.  What a better way to communicate these needs than with the documentation of their work on film..?
